If I buy 25 basic brass to chamber something based on that case, what options do I have?

28/20 Rabbath, 25/20SS & 22/3000 and a few variations of it. You could even make your own wildcat of 270 or 6.5mm.

If you straightened the case, it would make the .32 Extra Long, .32 Long Rifle, the .32 Long or the .32 Short, depending on trim length.

From what I saw, 25 basic is a rimmed, straight wall case.  Since I would like to approximate the 25 stevens or there abouts for squirrel and rabbit, where do I buy dies for the basic brass?

I think the 22 Hornet, would better serve that roll. The 25 Hornet has been around for a while and there are probably dies available.

The base diameter of .25 basic is a much larger dia. and much longer than .25 stevens.

CH4-D will probably have what you're looking for.

Then can I turn the rims down, trim, and get 25 Stevens?
I am looking for a BP center fire for use similar to 22lr.  I want a straight wall.

I'm not sure what you getting at. The Hornet cases will get you a better 25 Stevens cartridge, dimensionally, than using a 25/20 size case head. Easier to come by, too.

I want a straight wall, 25cal for similar uses as 22lr.  I want to use the basic brass because it is straight wall and suitable for single shot extractors.

That's why we are suggesting the Hornet. Its a shorter and smaller case and will have about .020 less taper.

First of all, what is .25 Basic brass?  Never hoid of it.

Cue  Chev_William, who has been fooling with this for a couple of years now.

.25 Stevens is a rimfire round.  I assume you want a centerfire version?  I believe Chev_William was somehow using .25 ACP dies.  Starting with Hornet brass, I think.  This whole project never lit my imagination on fire.

What is your chamber going to be?  A straight cylinder?  What diameter?  How will it be throated?

Edit:  The penny dropped!   Are you looking at the .25-20 Basic case that Captech makes?  I am holding one in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers.  The O.D. is .314".  The I.D. at the mouth is .290.   As such, it is approximately a straight walled 7mm case.   A practicable centerfire .25 Stevens would be about .275 O.D.    A Hornet case (also held in my formerly nicotinous digits), is .292" O.D. at the base.   Lots and lots easier to reduce to a nominal .275, eh?

CH4D does have dies labelled .25 Stevens, but they assume you will be using a .251 bullet (same as .25 ACP).  So you're going to have to find a .250-groove barrel, or reline one, to use those dies.   To say that they are spendy is putting it mildly.

That's as far as I can take you.  After that it's Chev_William's turn.
