I have one.  It came on an old Winchester low wall stock.  I was thinking of using it on a project but I don't know if that project will get off the ground.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I got one by putting a WTB in the "for sale" area here last year. But sounds like you might PM Chawk and work out a deal.

Also, the colt pump small swiss like plate is nearly identical.

If you're putting a repro #8-#9 Ballard buttplate on an original stock be forewarned they wont fit well! Some shrinkage in the casting process, so repros I've come across aren't a good fit. Not an issue if it's a restoration with new wood, as they can be fitted. But even then it's a bit more work.

Can someone post a pic. of one?   I was going through a long-shelved box of parts and I found 3 cast buttplates I'd stashed away Wink, one is a cast repro buttplate that has "Ballard/Sharps" written on the inside with magic marker. It's small fairly flat checkered plate with a rim and a small pointed return at the top.  the checkering might be a little coarser than some of the Niedner plates I have seen

The Union Hill buttplate is a small Swiss style, also referred to as the "Farrow Style" as Milton Farrow was instrumental in the design when he shot for Marlin at the time. One of my Union Hill Ballards:

thanks I had a completely different mental image, or may be confusing this one with another fairly recent butt-plate query

The one like on the #9 is what i need. I have purchased other ones that were supposed to fit, but nothing was close without redoing the stock significantly. I think the 8 and 9 used that same Farrow buttplate.
I sent a pm to chawk, hopefully he has what I need.

There were numerous Ballard models that used the same small Farrow style buttplate as the #8-9 Ballards. The 6 1/2 Rigby Off-Hand, 3F Fine Gallery, and #10 Schuetzen  Jr. also used the same buttplate.
