I have several of Accurate's molds in aluminum and all cast good round centered bullets. The sprue plates are a little rough on the block top if casting with a ladle, a bottom pour works the best for me.

I have 5 aluminum molds, single & doubles ... ZERO ISSUES with any of them.
What is your specific concern about Accurate molds in aluminum? Sounds like you don't own an aluminum mold from any vendor - Correct?

With any aluminum because of softer metal, if the sprue plate is screwed too tight - it's going to gall the tops of the blocks

I like Tom's moulds but my bullets don't turn out so well with an aluminum mould, brass is OK but iron is better

The first mold I ordered from Accurate was aluminum because I wasn't sure if I would like the bullet. I figured if the bullet design was what I wanted, I would order another one in cast iron. The bullet shot great and I never saw a need for the cast iron. 12 molds later and I'm still ordering them in aluminum.

I've been casting over 55 years and have 80 plus moulds. I have old iron, new iron, brass and aluminum. In aluminum I have several Lees, an NEI, and 2 dual cavity Accurates. The Accurates are works of art. I've had to mess with the Lees and even the NEI to get them the way I wanted but the Accurates were good to go from the box. With aluminum you want to make sure the sprue plate is dead smooth especially where the sprue hole is. And, you want to lube the sprue plate/mould contact with graphite just like Tom of Accurate says. Your lead needs to be a bit on the hot side because aluminum as you might expect carries off heat fast. You need a touch longer contact between the ladle and the mould. I use two moulds in rotation so I cast fast and don't have a problem with overheating the moulds or tearing the bases. With the Lees I got in the habit of smoking the cavities with a match and just do it for all of them now. If Tom doesn't have exactly what you want in the catalog, tell him, and he will make it for you. I use RCBS handles with the Accurate moulds.

I suspect the there is aluminum  and then there is ALUMINUM   like steel or iron it comes in various alloys with differing hardnesses and resistance to wear and galling.    I think that some of the less expensive early Lee Al molds gave some a bad taste and damaged the general image of Al mold

as in any mold the key to quality bullets is more often found in management technique,   casting alloy temp. and tempo, mold weight mass in relation to bullet-mass for heat control etc    adapting from standard iron to quality AL has a learning curve

I have a number of Accurate Moulds and a number of Lees from over the years   as well as iron and brass  I really prefer the Accurate Molds especially for larger bullets and multi-cavity molds.   They cast just as good a bullet as the almost same bullet in Lyman irons once I learned how to work with them and the slightly lighter weight is certainly easier of stiff "older" wrists.

the ability to custom design, or modify and existing bullet design or even get two versions of a bullet in the same mold from Accurate is an incredible boon for the experimenter who is just trying to find the RIGHT bullet for a specific barrel.

I have one of Toms molds from Accurate, I also have several aluminum molds from NEI. Yes I have scars on the tops of all the mold blocks from the sprue plates. I have had problems getting the molds to run right out of the box, doesn't matter who made them. I have found that if I smoke the insides with a butane lighter, I use a long grill lighter as its easier on the fingers, the molds run just fine. The Accurate mold I have was made to and casts just exactly what I asked for and is as round as you could get. I like the aluminum molds as the heat up quicker and you can cast at a good pace. I would recommend the Accurate molds in a heartbeat. The NEI molds that I have are very good also but I have not purchased any from them since Walt has passed away do I can not comment on the current quality. I would hope that they are still as good as the were.  My only complaint on Accurate molds is that his tooling will not allow him to make a bullet with a full round nose. However I feel that is a small complaint as most of the popular bullets have a flat anyway.
