I usually carry something in a 416 Rigby or 458 Lott when I go dragon hunting.  You really need a one shot kill !   However those magical runes engraved on the action may impart some sort of an advantage.

Ever since I equipped myself with a 458 Magnum I have not seen one dragon, elephant, or cape buffalo roaming loose in my area looking for doing damage to our community.  But I still have it close at hand with both solids and soft points just in case.

Guess the word of my gun has gotten to the large varmint community.

Not common at all. but like Joe said it has been done.   When one is working with a gun artist working in steel and wood the Ruger 1/3 action presents an incredibly adaptive foundation on which to build.
   If one were to search out and publish a coffee-table book of hi-grade-art Ruger Single Shots  I'd think this one would be rated very high indeed.

It is certainly the modern equivalent of the highly ornate engraved inlayed and carved Germanic single shots of generations past and one hopes just as efficient and accurate.

After further investigation I have found the original gunsmith/engraver. The 270 barrel is not original, so as far as value goes, changing to a different caliber won't depreciate any more than has already been done. I have absolutely no need for a 270, so thinking about converting to something I already use and enjoy, 218Bee, 223, 6mmBR or 308.

Ruger No 1 extractors are cheap....the skies the limit as to what caliber..........
