Good News and Bad News

Good news is that Mrs. Lozito and Mr. Wolf were able to identify my rifle amongst others in Joe's workshop.  I am immensely grateful for their efforts and stellar packing which enabled the rifle to arrive safely here.  The other news is that my project had reached the stage of being a barreled and stocked action but with no installed internal parts.  Included was a box of miscellaneous, used Sharps Borchardt parts, but I decided to bite the bullet and order new, but slightly oversize parts from Mr. Story. Eventually I shall dump the whole mess at the door of NECGS nearby.  Fortunately I have a complete Argus Barker rifle for them to use for guidance.  However, Joe's actions  featured improvements which have been mentioned in this forum, but I have not yet found photos of same.  Luckily I did receive a completed DST assembly from Mrs. Lozito.  PhotoBucket is not working well tonight, but I will be adding some photos here when I can.  I am wondering if some kind soul out there with a finished Lozito rifle might contact me?

OK, PhotoBucket seems to be working, but slowly.

right click the above picture, and then left click on "Open link". It will open in a size to fit this format.

Poorhouse,
Have you any idea who made those DST's you picture above? I ask because they look pretty rough and ready. Surely no self respecting gunsmith would sell those as finished items?

I note one change in all three, the leaf spring used by Zischang to vary the pressure of sear engagement on the DST triggers has been replaced by a piece of spring wire, which I think may cause some problems when trying to adjust or alter the contact pressure between the two triggers.

It is good to hear you got at least a large part of your Zischang back.

Harry

All of these parts were from Joe Lozito's work bench area.  I suspect he had built them up when designing his own version of DST.  The lower tang in my rifle is installed and polished but without trigger parts yet.  Another challenge for NECGS, but they frequently work on much more complicated European set trigger systems. Whenever I visit them, they are kind enough to show me stuff they are currently working on.

Well Poorhouse you have a beautiful start. The Stock looks as well as I can see to be first class. That will be a beautiful Rifle when finished. I am envious. As to the triggers, well nothing along these lines comes easy or cheap. Stay the course. Regards, FITZ. Smiley
