I run my alloy temperature up at least 50º higher than the "recommended" temp and bottom pour, both for lead only to be used in muskets and C&B revolvers and for my schuetzen alloy of 25 to 1 lead to tin.  I get good bullets, YMMV.  Smiley

Travelor:
Just curious- how do you sort out the ones with hidden voids
w/o weighing them and rejecting them. Ok, I suppose you
are simply sorting and rejecting all bullets outside of that + -
0.1 grain? Actually pretty good, only 5% lost to "voids".
good casting.

beltfed, I am weighing them to check for voids.

Must have not been clear, sorry.

How about a bottom pour ladle. Made this up several years ago, did not like all of the wrist twisting with a standard ladle, have used it ever sence, holds about 1200gr, works great for 25 up to 50cal.

Out of everything I have read on the subject, the main difference seems to be the weight of the head of lead above your pore. The ladle being more consistant. There are other issues, such as air gap and drop height. This ladle does the same thing only in a different manner.
I would love to hear what RKS has to say on the subject but have a expensive long distance service. Did he post anywhere?

Mike,
Like that dipper.
Certainly easier on the old arms and should be more controllable.
