Howdy;
Has there been any new information on the rifle(s) described by De Hass in Chapter 44 of the 1969 edition of Single Shot Rifles and Actions? I recently acquired one and am interested in learning more about it. Has anyone discovered who made them and when? Mine also has no name on it, just the serial number. Thanks.

I used the DeHaas drawing to make a copy of that action. The drawing is quite useful. Since doing that I have learned that it is a System Nimrod. There is a discussion of the design on page 251 of "Alte Scheibenwaffen" volume 2. There isn't much information But there are several examples of the design.

I have a System Nimrod and a  Buechel Meister. Both superb quality rifles made to amazingly tight standards.
I have shot the Meister in 200yd off-hand competitions at Bisley, but this week end I will be having a go with the Nimrod at both 200 and 100 yds.

Thank you both very much! Perhaps you could tell me if any of the James J. Grant Single shot books have any information on the Nimrod? Mr. Boulton, does the Buechel Meister have any connection w/ the Nimrod, i.e. would it happen to be the scheutzen model of the rifle? Thanks again!

No Sid: these are the names of action types, referred to as "systems" in Germany. Firms such as Haenel---makers of the Aydt action---and Buechel made complete rifles but also sold actions to other small gunsmiths who made them up to their local customers requirements.
My Buechel was made by Moeller, who were mainly barrel makers, and the Nimrod by Hermann Weiss of Suhl. The actions are quite different. Sorry, I have yet to take pictures of the Nimrod.
