Griz they probably produce more Picatinny blanks than not it just depends on ones tastes, wants and or needs. The only issue with the BLK adapters and once having a set myself is they didn't quite fit the scope block dovetail quite right and being a bit to thick. And being anodized aluminum and having to file a bit to fit properly about all one can do is it to try and re-blacken the filed area with a black majic marker that ends up looking like what one could imagine. Also if buying just the Weaver blank one still has to mill or file the cross slot for the ring mounting screws.

Maybe use black baking lacquer instead of the black Sharpie pen, John?

On the two rifles I have so far used "blank, ie, no mounting holes drilled" 12" sections of Picatinny rail have accepted three different types of commercial Picatinny rings that tightened nicely -- NO need for any remedial filing. I find Picatinny system more stable in regular hunting use than the one Weaver type I used for a while, thanks to better consistancy in fit up of rings on rails. Expect I will forever prefer the Leopold scope mounts I have used for 40+ years, but given cost of having offset rings machined for those bases will keep that from happening.

Outstanding question I have is "How stable will this combined Picatinny rail -- Steve Earlie offset unertl-type mount prove to be as I go much closer to full-power loads commonly required for deer and larger critters."

I cannot honesty answer that question but if using an Aluminum blank you do have to check the blank attachment to the barrel often as it does tend to loosen a bit.

That is not factor I am most concerned about. With scope offset 2,25" from bore, there is a definite angular force vector working on the aircraft Al metal. I am using lightest weight Leupold scope that meets my needs, especially on rifle that will recoil most with full loads. For use in Sweden or Norway, IF that ever finally happens, I will also have a rifle with suppressor installed to further reduce recoil.
