I do as much trade as I can in the shops where I live. I want the brick and mortar store to be there when I need something right now- say a new decapping pin to replace one for some reason. If we all go to the innernut and mailudder stores, we'll lose that.
Sometime the price is higher, but not much. And, like BP points out, I get to look at what's new, and feel it with my own grubby paws. You guys decide what you want, I chose my neighbor.

I do too, but for top target RF ammo and match primers, the immermet seems to be the only option for the last couple years   Cry

calledflyer,
I agree with you.
And there is another good reason to get away from the innernut and mailudder stores, and chat face-to-face with your neighbors at the brick and mortar stores... some still hold a few pretty good secrets.
One neighbor hasn't gone to guns shows for a long while now as the store lets him see more than enough guns come in and go out the door, and he just doesn't care for those "damn electronic boxes".
But he did have this tucked out of the way, and it made me glad that I took the time to make the drive and use a little gasoline in the process...

Quite a stash of tooling. I wouldn't need it, not being a machinist, but I know from my days at work that it's not cheap to get yer mitts on. Good find. Wink

Interesting thing is, the tooling that is there does match up with various ops for the 103 sight.     Shocked

Tried to finde some fed. Large rifle match locally. Said he hasn't had it in a long while. Didn't  see any on line ether. Getting real low at this time. Plenty of pistol though. Any recommendations for breach seated 32-40 in pistol primers? Sad

Fed 150 LP is what I use in my 33 with 4227.

F150's were my go to primer, when I was shooting 32/40's with 4227. In my experiance, 4227 doesn't care much about what primer is used.

I agree with Frank. I use Fed 210 and Fed 210m in .32-40 without any noticeable change.  Not just with 4227 either, it isn't fussy about primers.
I stay away from pistol primers, but some find them to their liking. If I were shooting modern-made rifles, I might feel the same.

I have no problem with patronizing locally owned stores, except we have exactly one in town that I've not seen suitable primer in for over a year.  Sometimes one has to resort to drastic measures.

Just back from the local gunshow (Oaks, PA). Other than some BR4 & SP, no other match primers. Same with .22LR ammo. Lots of plinker stuff, but nothing worth shooting at a target. Recently resorted to splitting a case of match primers from Graf & Son with another shooter to get what I wanted. My LGS tells me they don't order primers. They get what the distributor gives them.

Highwall, how does one go about swaging a rifle pocket to the pistol size? I can visualize the enlargement of one, but not making is smaller. Please enlighten me.

2 part die, the shellholder fits the press like normal but on top of it is a button with a pin in the middle that you put the shell on , it's the same size as a pistol primer, then the die has an adjustment screw that you set to swage the inside down about .010 to pistol size, checking with caliper till it's set then do your brass.. Don't have to deburr the inside of the case , the swager flatten all the burrs out and the pin keeps the hole round.ive done some of my BPCR rifles And it helps accuracy. My Browning BPCR is getting 6 to 7 inch groups at 600 yards for 10 shot groups.

Thank you for the explanation. I don't figure to ever do the job, but it's nice to know stuff just the same.
Ya know, with my luck I'd go to the trouble to make the change just find out my loads got worse, or pistol primers would become extinct.
