Rolling Block 32 CF

I bought a #2 in rimfire and a #4 in 32CF. What different 32CF did the Rolling Block use? The Rolling Block parts guy said he didn't think it was a 32-20. Guess I need a chamber cast.

Never heard of Remington offering the #4 in anything other than the 22RF's, 25-10 (Remington's designation for the 25RF Stevens), or the 32RF's.
Even with a solid frame #4, those small diameter breechblock and hammer screws in the #4 didn't have the shear strength that the pins used in the #2 had.
Let us know what your chamber cast tells you.

I'm sorry, I have the numbers reversed. The #2 is the 32CF. Looking at a RB book I borrowed showed the only CF available was the 32 Extra Long.

One Remington advert for the #2 shows that the 32-20 Win, and the 32 Long Central-fire were available.

If a 32 WCF won't chamber, I'd still do a chamber cast to determine what you may actually have since there has been plenty of years for someone to run a reamer into it.

Many #2s were altered to permit the use of the 32 S&W and 32 S&W Long/32 Colt New Police cartridges.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I'd guess your #2 is either .32 Long, or possibly .32 Extra Long. More likely just the plain Long.

Stuff a patch in front of the chamber, pour it full of melted wheel weight or trash lead, wait 15 to 30 minutes, and bonk it out and see.
Saw a no.2 at a gun show recently marked simply 32 and it was 32-20.  Remington didn't want to advertise "WCF".

Remington marked their .32-20 WCF barrels simply "32W" They marked their .32-40 Ballard/Marlin barrels, "32 B&M" There .32 Long barrels were marked "32". Regardless of RF or CF.
