Martini Cadet 32 Win Special

Has any one been able to get any accuracy out of these.  Just bought one on Gunbroker. Thought maybe using my 32-20 dies and bullet in Win Special case.  Probably severe leading if I try 321 dia lead bullets.  Oh well, if won't shoot will make a nice 17 Ackley Bee.

Doubt you will be happy with the accuracy. 310's I've owned measured closer to .325-.326 using a 5 flute mic.

The correct bullet for the Cadet is a healed 120gr .310 diameter bullet. If you can successfully load one in a 32 Spl case it might work, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.

IIRC, those were converted by Winfield Arms or some such surplus outfit in the late 1950s, based on bore & groove diameter.  I would slug the bore before going any further.

IF ED's groove-to-groove diameters are valid for your "32 Win Special" there are several 8mm moulds intended for oversize 8X57 barrels. I have an 8mm that requires 0,325" cast GC bullets that I buy from Western Bullet. They shoot very well in my rifle.

I thought they were just rechambered based on groove diameter.  They advertised that you could get them chambered for 32-20, or 32 Winchester Special.  They may have had some rebored to .357 Mag.  I think those sold for a premium.  They probably had terrible barrels and were rebored to recoup acquisition costs. If you insisted, you could get one in .310 Cadet, but no brass back then.  IIRC, they would also sell just an action, for maybe $15.

They were advertised in most of the gun magazines in the late 50s.

Klein's Sporting Goods of Chicago offered the Orig as well as
rechambered to 3220 and 32 Spl. Also rebored some to 357 Mag.
I coveted one of these as a kid.
Finally got one. By chance,I  traded into a 357Mag several years ago. Turned out to be an excellent shooter. Along with
usual cast pistol bullets, I think my favorite and very accurate load is a 200 gr Lyman 358315 over IMR 4227.
Interestingly, my 200 gr load seems to shoot to the settings on the orig sights.

Maybe I was wrong about Winfield.  I seem to remember something about Chicago.  Could have been Klein's.

I just did some checking. The healed portion of the Cadet bullet measures .313". Slightly belling the case mouth of 30-30 brass will allow seating the Cadet bullet in the 30-30 brass. 30-30 ammo will chamber and fire in a 32 Spl chamber/barrel. Granted, there will be neck expansion, but at least the correct bullet will be going down the bore.

So JSB30, if you want to try this , I would be happy to send you some Cadet bullets to play with.

I have a dozen BSA cadet rifles. One in .357 Mag and one in .32 Win Spl. Using factory Remington ammo with the sight at the lowest setting the .32 Win will shoot a 4 to 5 inch group about 16 inches high at 100 yards. With about a 120 gr.
bullet and reduced powder charge it would probably shoot ok. The .357 shoots a 3inch group but the best is the original .310. This is all with the iron sights.

Arrived today. A .313.nose on a Saeco tapered mold  will just start into rifling at muzzle.. Slugging  the barrel the best I can tell I get about .313 from land to opposite groove and .318 from widest point I can measure. The .321 base of the slug has the grease groove at base almost closed up after pushing it through. Have some 32-40 formed from 30-30 cases.  Will try the tapered Saeco bullet in them and blow them back out.
