Ruger #3 heavy barrel, Canjar trigger - finally getting it rolling.  Looking for suggestions on loads - bullets and powder.

breech seating? I shoot a 260grn brooks using #9. let me know if you have trouble feeding cases in. I find them hard to load because the straight case and I bell the mouth. Thinking of rounding the chamber mouth like on a 1911 match gun Smiley

What twist is your barrel.  Has a lot to do with what (length) bullets you choose.
My Martini Cadet/ 357mag , 13 twist barrel, shoots the lyman
358316 , 200 grain bullet very well with a load of 13-14 gr 4227.

I'll have to measure it.  It is not as fast a what I'd like - will have to breech seat - normal chamber.

Thanks for the loads - that gives me an idea of what is likely to work!

Mine is a 1 in 10 so the heavier bullets work fine.

My Original LW, was re-bored and chambered 357 Mag, when I got it.

It has a 28", 20 twist barrel and I did  little load develpoememt with it, before I had it re-chambered to 357 Max (I call it a 38 XL).

Fixed loads are with H&G 150 GC bullet, BSed loads are a 162 PB, both SWC.

Fixed:

B'Dot
10.0, 1652
10.5, 1692 Best B'Dot
11.0, 1719

296
14.8, 1680

820
16.0, 1866, best fixed load

BSed:

7.0, Unique, 1325

B'Dot
9.0, 1348, Best BS
12.0, 1776

820
16.0, One shot, 1839, to fast for PB

Regarding twist, after re-chambering to Max, I shot the 358315 (208 gr GC) and the 35875 (208 gr PB) w/o tipping.

The 35875, I shot, BSed, at 1437 fps and got 1" groups @ 100 yd.

Hmmmm.  THANKS, Frank!

I can see re-chambering this for 38XL (now that I've got a bunch of .357Max brass).

I think this is going to take some work developing the load, but there's potential.
