Are you talking Winchester, and not Stevens?
For WRA, look in Campbells books, and I belive his second book updated some of the barrel info contained in his first book.

There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest who have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

If you're talking about Winchester 1885s, Campbell's book on page 94.  Do you want the table or do you want to identify your barrel #?

Campbell also states that the dimension of the barrel is the same at the muzzle regardless of the length- that is to say a 34 inch barrel would measure the same at breech and muzzle as a 30 inch one.
I've measured a few to check and sure enough, that's the way they are. Give or take a very few thousandths at either end.

Gentlemen - Thanks for the replies - Winchester numbers and sources to find the others.  Have enough leads to do my own follow ups ... not knowing that the numbers represent: width at receiver - width at muzzle and barrel length

Again from Campbell:

#5  1.16 at receiver, 1.12 at muzzle- stated for 30" (see above)

#6  1.30 at receiver, 1.25 at muzzle- same as before.

I believe he also says the dims. are used for round and octagon, but didn't read the section to find it.
I have never owned a #5 barrel, nor even seen a #6 original barrels, of course. My 32-inch #4 weighs almost 14 pounds without the scope. Can't imagine needing more- musta been tough dudes back then, huh?

I sent an PM to march41.  The book states the size is the same for octagon, half-octagon, or round.  I would have posted a picture but didn't want to violate forum rules or copyright laws.

Thanks Rebel, it's good that you verified the size being the same for any barrel type-round, octagon, or, the oct/round that I failed to mention. I was pretty sure of the fact, but good to have backup.
I couldn't have broken any laws with a picture- I don't know how to post one. Cheesy
