Yes, I have an original Winchester mould for my .40-82 as well, plus the current Lyman version ...

My '86 has gotten by with a handful of Bertram cases for shooting because I save my oldies for the shelf. Well, mostly in boxes, bags and wherever they end up. 
My 1895 in .38-72 shot paper patched until I got a borrowed mold to use. Did OK, for a trial.

Something bugged me about my earlier post commenting on the .40-82 with the jacketed bullet. What I meant to say was with a coppery jacketed bullet. I have seen them in the old nickel jackets. Oops.

IIRC, copper cases didn't work too well for the 7th Cavalry back in 1876.

These are all WRA Co. headstamp and there is a mix of copper jacketed, cupro nickel jacketed, and lead.  I'll have to look ... I also have an old, full, slip top cardboard box of WRA Co. .40-82 WCF ammo and I'm not sure if they are all the same or mixed types as well?

Finally going to shoot this old girl tomorrow.  I'm just heading down to my shop to load a few test rounds for her since I'm taking my next door neighbour up to our local gun club for a day of shooting tomorrow morning.  I'll be testing out the Ballard Pacific I recently bought so thought I'd finally get the High Wall out to shoot it a bit too.  Should be a fun day as my young neighbour is only in his late 20's and is quite keen to shoot and hunt, but is fairly new to the game and only owns 3 guns so far, a .30-30 Marlin, a 10/22 Ruger and a basic pump shotgun.  I'll try to open his eyes a bit with a variety of guns to test fire.  I'm taking up the .40-90 Ballard, the .40-82 High Wall, a Danish RB in 8x58R, a large action Martini in .338 / .303 British (a rebore by Ron Smith in Alberta), a pattern 1914 Enfield in .303 British, a Springfield Armory Garand in '06, and an M14 in .308 Win.  That should be enough to keep him busy for a little while!

A friend of mine had an original HIWALL in 40-82. The barrel was in perfect condition. Someone reading these pages may be the current owner of that rifle. I bought these loading dies along with the rest of his loading tools from his daughter when he passed away. The two cartridges on the left are 40-82, lead and nickel. The two cartridges on the right are both Kynoch, one a 450 Nitro and the other 500 BP EXRESS. I fired the double in the 500. The recoil was awesome.
