Very nice Vall! The rifle, tools, scope and even the case were a great find.
You did an awesome job getting this one looking good in a hurry.
Let us know how the breech seating goes in this one.

Thanks Jon! Since this one is the same .32-40 caliber as my other Ballard that was my introduction into breech seating; it should be quick and easy to incorporate it! Hopefully I can get the Schoyen out soon and try both fixed and breech seated ammo, to figure out which it likes best and how well it may shoot!

I admit, I walked by it, and somehow now I would be digging in my pocket for the extra if I saw it now.   Great work, the case hardening is spot on.   I really like the lever and great idea on it being removable.  The wood came out wonderful....I still think the cowhide covered case is best part Wink
Let us know how she shoots!

Thanks Damon! I doubt you or anyone would have passed on it, if the seller had it on the table with the case, scope, and everything else at Denver! I just got real lucky giving in to my urges, and then getting the rest tossed in on the deal.
The case is funny looking, but everybody seems to like it regardless.

Thanks! Yes, I'm pretty sure it was passed up by so many people simply because of the poor refinish on it! The rounded edges on the octagon barrel; poorly shaped wood, and all the extra holes and dovetails in the barrel! But it still had that great Schoyen bore, and was mechanically sound. Just needed to get the stink off of it!

Vall, that rifle is so beautiful it takes my breath away.  I can't imagine even touching a rifle of that quality, much less owning one.  I envy you, my friend, I really do.

Thanks Chris! I'm pleased to be the caretaker of this Schoyen, and hope I've done it a service to bring it back to something closer to what George Schoyen built.

Well, I'm no expert on the subject, but I'd think he'd be mighty pleased to see the care and attention to detail you've invested in rebuilding it.  It's impressive, to say the least.
