Bent ramrod  your rifle looks almost exactly as mine does. Mine has about 99% nickle on it. and it was a .22 and converted to 25-20 SS.

Mine is almost bereft of nickel, but the bore is pretty good and it locks up tight.  The barrel is about the same size and weight as the one used on the 044-1/2.

Stevens was pretty astute in looking for possible new markets for its products.  The Gibson Girl was all the rage then, and she was a sportswoman--golfing, fishing, tennis, horseback riding and so forth.  Inevitably, she would get around to shooting if she could be sure she wouldn't get Bubba-ized or lose her femininity in the process.  I can't think of another firm that tried to cultivate this potential market with something the women would like.  It's only now, 100 years later, that companies make the designer color handguns and cute pink rifles to offer the other half of the population.

I think Carolyn's main products were surveyors transits and stuff like that.  Telescopic rifle sights were just a sideline.
