Also...uscra112 suggested looking at the link.  If it's been brazed wouldn't that mean it's heat treatment has been ccompromised?  Provided it had any to start with.
Should I just located another one?? Sounds reasonable to do so.
Thoughts anyone???
Btw.....what is the exact name of the "link"?  I'd be willing to bet  it has at least a 2 word name.  Lol

It's  the hammer that has braze on it, and yes, the case hardening is doubtless compromised.

I suggested that the finger on the link is too short.   Once a good hammer is in place you can assess.  Also likely that the holes in the link are worn.  I can make you a link if you need one.  Used ones are rarely any good.

BTW it's just called a "link".   No fancy name.

Uscra112..
If you take a look at the second series of pics I posted yesterday you will see that what I think is the link also has brass on it. Unless I'm not looking at the link but rather something else.

I just sent you what is now a redundant P/M, Jerry.   But take your link out and compare the outline with that one on eBay.  There are some that have a different outline, depending on what scheme they used to keep the lever from drooping.

I'm bidding on the hammer shown in the above link  and a trigger. Hopefully I'll get at least the hammer.
But....The trigger pin does not look like mine. Mine is a screw with a smaller screw tightened into the end opposite the pins' head.  Is that a wrong trigger??

You're confusing the lever pivot with the trigger pivot screw.  The lever pivot and the breechblock pivots from about 1900 on had the screw in the end to hold them in place.  The trigger pivot was always a plain screw, and as far as I can determine it never changed for the life of the model.  If this one I see on eBay is the one you are bidding on, it's the right trigger.

Yes.  Upon closer inspection of my loose parts you are correct.
So...apparently there are different links.  Oh goody. More confusion. Just keeps getting better and better.  Huh

I won 3 items on ebay. Hammer and screw, trigger and screw, and a link.   As soon as I get a total for those items I am sending payment.  Will keep everyone posted as to my progress.
Thanks again.

I won the Stevens items, along with the Ballard hammers, links, and the other hammer I'm unsure of? So looks like you've now got enough pieces to make a major step forward on your rebuild Jerry!
Anybody know what that hammer fits? (sitting next to the two Ballard links)

Vall, since Jerry already won his hammer and trigger, I'll offer to take the Stevens parts off your hands if that suits you.

Phil

Waiting to see if Jerry still wants all the Stevens parts. If he doesn't, I'm happy to sell whatever is Stevens in the batch. I have no Stevens anymore. Sold my last two Stevens schuetzen rifles at the Denver show last month.

I'm also interested in the Stevens parts, especially the ejector (if marked 22) and would like to have one of the "bolts" (upper one) also.

As soon as I can get some medical issues and bills taken care of I'm getting back to this old rifle.
Thanks for all the help and info so far.   Smiley

Interesting thread.
JerryB - in the meantime you could start doing some judicious work on the receiver getting it cleaned up with a flat-file, etc. You'll eventually want to look as good as it is going to shoot.

Glenn - 2x CPA 44 1/2 w/22LR (Shilen ratchet-rifled & Bartlein 5R rifled), 38-40RH & 38-55WCF (Bartlein 5R rifled) & 40-65WCF (GrnMtn 'X') barrels
