Russ Webber breech seating tool

Hi Guys ,i wonder if anyone might be able to help me with a problem i am having with breech seating bullets in my Pedersoli Hi Wall rifle, cal 38/55 . I  have two custom molds that cast a tapered bullet but even when cast from a soft alloy i can only partially seat either bullet when using a plugged case or a seater made from a case with a sliding plunger and handle .
I would like to use a Russ Webber breech seating tool but i am unable to purchase one in this country .So if i can acquire a set of dimensional drawings of a Russ Webber seater or measurements taken from one i hope to get a machinist friend to make one for me ,
thanks for all your help , Glyn

I made this for my Ruger Nol. 1 32-40.  The handle came from an old Outers cleaning rod, the brass rod from the hardware store, as well as the 3/8" dia. aluminum rod for the case plug.  The case head was drilled and tapped, and the brass rod threaded.  Cave-person simple

The Weber tool is the way to go. Fine adjustability, designed for the action used, should last a lifetime. Why couldn't one of these tools be exported/imported as a "paper (or leather) punch tool" or something non-threatening to the inspectors?

Have you talked to Russ Weber. They are really not that hard to make but unfortunatly I don't have the all the information you are requesting to fit your personal needs. One designed for a Win. HiWall should be close and only require some minor file work at the lug recess or slight shimming out at the back of the case. With that being said you might try a want to buy in the for sale section. Wish I could have been of more help, the Weber design is the right way for you to move forward as you have requested and I wish you the best.

JLouis

Thanks Marlene for your response and the link. Some interesting ideas. I think the Russ Webber breech seating tool will be the best for me to be able to adjust the seating depth of the bullet which may help me with accuracy.

Many thanks.

Steven Durren also makes breech seating tools.  He's  member here and an extremely skilled gunmaker.  He recently finished a rifle for me and built a breech seater for it.  Perhaps this is another option for you.

Hi J Louis ,thanks very much for your interest , a little while ago frnkeore kindly sent me a design for a tapered breech seating bullet and i had accurate moulds make me an excellent mould from that design ,with this bullet i have made quite a bit of progress but to get better i decided i needed a better breech seater .I contacted Russ Webber to purchase one of his breech seaters but because of problems it wasn't practical, so my friend and i thought we would have a go at making one ourselves , i hope that someone will describe how these breech seaters are made adjustable , thank you  for your help and advice and will let you know how we get on   regards ,Glyn

Here is a couple of Webber types. I don't own one and I don't have any dimensions, to go with the pictures. The darker picture is a Ruger.
