.257" Roberts light loads

Does anyone have experience with light loads?  I'm starting a Grandson on reloading & shooting & he's a little recoil shy.  He will be using a C.C.Johnson worked Hi-Wall, which I had rebarreled to .257" Rimmed Roberts.  My thoughts go to a 60gr bullet & stop there !

Are you seeking loading data?  I have no experience with the 257 Roberts, but my old Lyman cast bullet book has a 75 gr GC as its lightest bullet.  Loads start and max for that bullet (actually same charges for 95 and 100 grainers too):
powder       St. wt     fps       max grs     fps
Red Dot      7.0        1525       12.0       2115
Green Dot   8.0        1605       13.0       2170
Unique       9.0        1680        14.0      2230
700X         7.0        1545        12.0      2125
PB             8.0        1555        13.0     2090
SR7625      9.0        1650        13.5      2135
230           7.0        1535        12.0      2130
630           12.0       1770        18.0      2300

These are from a 24" Ruger M77.  I would think the start charges would be good for your grandson and the High Wall.

I love Red Dot for this, but it's getting scarce.  It's a bulky powder that is therefor not too position sensitive.  Promo is said to be a direct substitute.
