Hi Ken
If you keep shooting groups that are that small your going to be over worked building barrels.

Hi Ken
I honestly couldn't tell you, I don't think that I have ever shot at a paper target with my Sharps. There is a 600 yd long 40 foot high ridge of scoria 90 yds east of my home so, crossticks plop down on your ass and pick out a rock. My shooting is Min-of-Rock. Or I drive into the next section north where gong targets are setup 225 yds to 900 yds, if you have a fresh coat of paint on the gongs it's easy to tell what you are getting for a group.

I will PM you Farrell with load information. Al would sure like the sales. Thanks for your post.

I don't have a lot of experience with the 45-70, 45-90 etc. The 40cal. I expect under MOA at 100yds. What do other 45cal. shooters expect and get out of there rifles BR at 100yds.?  Ken

Ken,

I believe that one minute too one minute and a half is a good load for .45-70 With Black Powder.
I don't know what they are expecting with smokeless...Your Groups are Exceptional in My opinion!

I doubt smokeless would be any better considering the recoil involved with the 45 caliber rounds.

Since the matches were all 10 or 15 shot, I never shot my RKS barrel 45-100 with anything but straight BP, at 200 yards or less than 10 shot groups testing loads.    My 10 shot groups were never quite MOA, always 2 3/8 to 2 1/2".

Have you shot any 10 shot groups with this rifle at 200 yds?

I would be surprised to see it not shoot well at 200 too.  I was just curious about 10 shots at 200 to compare to my RKS in its hay day  Roll Eyes  It impressed one of our local USBR shooters, but that was then.  I'm sure he'd be impressed with these groups too. Just managing the recoil to accomplish it is an art unto itself.
