.219 zipper improved?

I have a high wall custom with unknown caliber, it's marked JR Buhmiller on the barrel that's all. I made a chamber cast, however I couldn't get the forearm off to disassemble the rifle so i had to make the cast with the extractor in place. The rim didn't turn out the best but it looks to be .06 thick. Anyway by the dimensions I was able to get, I think it looks like .225 win but because of the rim thickness more likely .219 zipper improved. What do you guys think?

Neck looks a little too long be .225 Win.   You omit to post a measurement so I'm only going by eye

Bernie,
My Zipper improved has a neck that is .300" long and a 25 degree shoulder.  Base mics .415" and .400" at the shoulder.

Thanks for the replies. Here's the info I have on the 219 zipper improved. I've read that there maybe some variations in dimensions.

I was just looking through 22 Caliber Varmint Rifles by Landis from the late 1940's and it will really get you confused. Everyone and their brothers had their own ideas about 22 wildcats. The 303 British necked to 22 looked "exciting". Most of your dimensions would match the Improved Zipper except to get the neck length you have the shoulder would have to be much sharper. So maybe an Improved Improved Zipper! I guess you'll have to get hold of a Improved Zipper case and see if it will chamber. If it won't, you'll have to set the shoulder back until it will and then fire form the brass and have custom dies made.

Thanks for the info, it's likely what I have.  I had read that in the early days of the 219 zipper a lot of gunsmiths and wildcatters had a go at improving the zipper. Apparently the dimensions weren't really standard until P.O. Ackley developed it and it became popular. However even then it seems there were 2 different shoulder angles. Im kind of stuck with it, I bought the rifle at a gun show and it was part of an estate sale, but I have talked with the seller and he's going to have a look around with the widow and see if they can locate the matching dies. Hope I get lucky. If not maybe I could get a reamer and ream the shoulder depper to match the Ackley improved zipper dimensions or re chamber to something easier to reload. The barrel is very heavy, so hotter would be fine. Any ideas?

I think you'll be very happy rechambering it to 225 Win. The SAMMI chamber dimensions for it are:

Shoulder .407

Length to shoulder 1.524

Length to neck 1.680

It's a great cartridge. 33.0 gr Varget, gets me 1/2" groups with a 55 gr bullet at 100 in my HW.

I have a extra FL die for mine but not a seater. You can use a 22/250 to seat, if yo have one.

Not a big issue, you should be fine with a std improved die set up to just neck size, as long as you don't go too hot.

If you decide to stay with the current chamber, I just happen to have a set of RCBS dies for the 219 Imp.(Ackley) Zipper that needs a home. Set has 2 form dies, FL sizer, Neck size die and seater. Let me know if you are interested.

Thanks for the all the advice and gwarden thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it if I decide to stay with the 219 ZI. Seems like it would be the easier route to go.  I'm a newbie to reloading and want to make sure I do it right.
