I recently acquired a 44 1/2, 3 barrel set by Robert Snapp.
He was/is (?) a gunsmith in Clare MI.
Is anyone familiar with his work?

Pretty well-known for his work with small-action Martini's, which he makes into high-end rifles - so this one seems to fit right in there.  As far as I know, he's still alive and working.

Wow what an outstanding shooting kit and the wood is absolutely beautiful. What are the three barrels chambered for?

Congratulations Rebel

The barrels are 38-55, 30-30 and 219 Zipper.
They are dated 2-80
I'm hoping Mr Snapp is still working and will build me a 32-40 barrel.
Or rework the 219 into one.

I hope it works out for you Aaron with the 32-40 barrel and if not we have one competitor shooting a custom built breech seating 30-30 on a Ruger #1 action. Rifle shoots really good just a tad more wind sensitive than the 32-40 but a real pleasure to shoot and extremely accurate.

I recall hearing of a gunsmith named Snapp who I think developed a pistol cartridge based on the 22 Hornet.  This would have happened in the '60's or '70's.  We have to remember that 1980 was 36 years ago but it sure doesn't seem like it.  The Robert Snapp who did the beautiful work on the above rifles is probably pretty old if he's even still alive.

Talked with him a month or so ago - good man.  He is the one that makes the rimless cartridge extractors for Martini Cadets.
