Grease cookie recipe?

I looked over the Lube section but not sure that is where I should be looking.  I'm looking for a recipe for grease cookies.

I plan on shooting PP bullets in my .45-70.  I live in a very hot & humid area, Houston Tx.  Some of the recipes I have read about talk about the cookie melting under hot and humid conditions.  Others talk about putting a wax paper wad over the powder first, then the cookie and another regular wad.  Others use a use two regular wads with the grease cookie sandwiched between them.

I see where some people use straight SPG while others may use a combination of JoJo lube and beeswax, etc.

I would like to see some recipes of PP shooters and the grease cookie they are using.

roscoe,
I have not tried this, but after reading some of metford's writings it is on the drawing board.
metford felt that oil was very important, and seemed to deliver it with wads.
these wads were soaked in the oil, and then let sit in a sieve to drain off the excess.
ammo loaded with such wads would probably be needed to be loaded with neck tension so that oil was not squeezed out of the wads when chambering a tight bullet, and to maintain the same cartridge overall length in this circumstance.
an oil with long carbon chains would combine with fouling to make soap, just as fats like tallow do.
maybe 50/50 tallow and oil would be good done this way as well.
the brits shot dirty in long range match rifle comps, and some said that a straight beeswax wad worked, quite the opposite of the above.
they could hold verticle of 36" at 1000 yards shooting dirty.
keep safe,
bruce.

My advice would be to get Paul Matthews book titled "Loading the Black Powder Rifle Cartridge"  this will tell you just about everything you need to know about grease cookies and how to make them plus a lot of other important information.
As for myself I have made them from SPG thinned with a little Jojoba oil to make them a similar consistency to plasticine and they worked fine.
The idea it to have them get totally used up while in the barrel, not blown out the end of the barrel and lubricating the scenery.
Mike.
PS  Mr Matthews other book titled "The Paper Jacket" is also worth reading if you want to get into PP bullets.

Here’s A.O. Neidner’s recipe for grease wads. 2 oz. Graphite, 4 oz. Beeswax, 4 oz. Japan wax.

I have been reading; The Paper Jacket, Loading the Black Powder Rifle Cartridge as well as Loading & Shooting Paper Patched Bullets.  This is very good information for the beginner PP shooter like me.

After reading these and seeing a few post here and there, I'm trying to see if anything new has since these books were printed between 1991 and 2011.

I don't think I will use and extruder to make a ribbon.  I leaning towards a mold where I can pour the liquid into and after drying, I can go back and use my case to add the cookie from the dried lube.  I can machine a circle or square 1/8 to 3/16 deep in delrin and this will be my mold.  Scrape out the unused lube and remelt it later.
I just don't know which lube to use.

some advise NOT to read Matthews books, particularly the one on pping.
generally speaking they contain conflicting info not well thought out, much of which has been proven to be a waste of time.
this can cause a lot of time wasting until you find out.
his pping book mixes up bore and groove diameter stuff as well as smokeless and bpcr with great abandon.
there are far better resources.
keep safe,
bruce.

I've never done this, but could a fellow lay a sheet of wax paper in a tray and pour a thin layer of his chosen lube on it to form a sheet that could be punched right onto the mouth of a case, like some do with floral foam? Then, you could seat the bullet right in like normal. Or breech seat if that's yer way. Just a idea if anybody wants it.

Easiest way to make a sheet of wax, whatever formula, is to pour the melted wax onto a pan of warm water and let it harden.  VOILA!, a sheet of wax of uniform thickness.
An extruder is not hard to make and less messy.  All that said, I have never found much use for wax wads.   Mostly they were used in military applications, where the idea was to KEEP SHOOTING.   For sporting use, you don't have to fire long strings of shots, and for target, you will wipe between shots, anyway.
The ODG's seemed to use oil-  or grease-soaked felt wads as obturators with PP bullets.
