Trapdoor Springfield rebirth

I usually just lurk here, absorbing information. I thought some of you may like to see a Trapdoor I finished building this week. Before and after pictures, this gun had been used as a movie prop in "Gunga Din".

Good looking rifle, nice job.
Certainly a case where one did not have to worry about modifying an original.
Nice save.

A really classic looking Trapdoor sporting rifle. You did a great job.

How long is the barrel, and what did you use for a buttplate?

You get two thumbs up from me too.  Nice job restoring that old classic.  She's a beaut.

Yes, it's gorgeous. I'm trying hard to remember back 50 years but didn't the old Williams Converting Military Rifles have a chapter on the trapdoor?

If I owned a Trapdoor, I'd want it to look exactly like your reincarnation! Great job!

If you want to do one, I have parts, but the barrels are shot. Would have to get a good barrel fitted.

I always wanted one of those movie prop 45-70s that were made up to look like flintlocks, but every thing I have heard about them, they are pretty rough by the time the studio's turn loose of them. I have seen any number of them in vintage movies.
