Jerry,
Do remember if it was the Scott or AA4100 that we compared with my Enforcer, when I was down there?

Thanks Jerry. It seems we may be on track. (Especially with the .25-20WCF).  I'll continue to test the 300MP in my .32-20CPA ............. so far, the Enforcer has produced the most consistent results.

Thanks Jerry
I just put up the last of my 4100 (about 1/2 pound) To act as a base for testing new powders. Next week I will start using the Ramshot for practice. I’ll report on what I get then.

Frank,

It was AA4100 that we compared to Enforcer. I didn't have the Scott at that time.

OkeyMaple,

I'll be interested in how the 300MP works for you in the 32-20. I still need to try it in my 25-20WCF.

40 Rod,

I look forward to your report. I hope that your results will mirror mine.

I did a comparison test between new production Enforcer and AA 4100 last week but I wanted to see how Jerry's tests turned out before posting.

These groups were shot with a Miller chambered in .32 RKS as I wanted to see if Enforcer would work better in a small capacity case than it did in a .32-40 rifle.

The control group was shot with 13.1 gr. of AA 4100, pipe insulation wads, and Federal 205 GMM small rifle "AR"primers. This was the last group shot and it measures right at 3/4".

All the other groups were shot with 13.1 gr. of Enforcer.

1. Remington 7 1/2 primers, floral foam wad
2. S&B SR primer, floral foam wad
3. Fed 205 GMM AR primer, floral foam wad
4. Remington 7 1/2 primer, pipe insulation wad
5. S&B SR primer, pipe insulation wad
6. Fed 205 GMM AR primer, pipe insulation wad

Once again, the new production Enforcer would not group.  I have some Enforcer left and I intend to continue testing.

Jan,
Did you change the scope settings at all and could you identify the groups with the wads and primers used to make them?

Jan these are very similar results obtained when they changed the recipe for the old AA#9 that we both experianced. It suddenly went from extremely good to just the opposite and thus the need for a change in powders. I ended up giving what was left in the last 8lb Jug of the new #9 away to friend as it just wouldn't shoot the same for my purposes. It makes one wonder if the same thing is happening to the Enforcer if it is truly the same as the AA4100? It also makes one wonder if an individual should buy a lifetime supply when the right lot number performance wise comes around. I hope different lots of powder in the future dosen't become a similar task to sorting out the right lot and machine to acquire competitive rimfire ammunition from the same manufacture. So far Aliant has done a good job with thier 300MP as I havent noticed any changes to date being on my 8th, 8pound jug of varying lots but I do fear that day might be coming. It will also be extremely interesting to see how the AA4100 will compare to past lots once it becomes available for sale again.

Hi Frank,

I'll get that information posted later today.  I don't have my notes handy right now.

John,

It is reminiscent of the problems we had with different lots of AA#9.  It's also somewhat telling that Western Powder is not branding this stuff as AA 4100.

I totaly agree with you Jan in regards to the Branding and with your current results with the new Enforcer one could only hope that the AA4100 will remain the same as it was prior to the shortage. Currently thier is not allot of new slow buring pistol powders out there yet to be tried that will meter well.

Hi Frank,

I did not change the scope settings.  The prior post has been edited to add the primer and wad info.

I just got a notice From Powder Valley that they had 4100. I just deleted it as I now have 12 pounds of Enforcer. As Western has already said that it is the same powder I can see no difference. I wonder if when you buy a can of AA 4100 it has the same lot number as the current Enforcer?

Just bought some - we will know about the lot number in about 6 days.

Here are the results of today's outing with AA4100 and Enforcer.

Not a good day for testing with switching, gusty winds and a mirage that would change right to left like flipping a light switch.

I shot these two groups over a chronograph and felt they should be posted even though they are nothing to brag about. I wanted to be able to show what was happening on paper while shooting over the chronograph.

I'm sure the wild shots were due to mirage and my own miscalculations in judging where to hold. The target was bouncing so bad when I shot the Enforcer that I'm really not sure if I was always aiming where I wanted to be.

The top group is with the old original AA4100. It has twelve shots in it because I threw two of them so badly I felt it wasn't a true representation and shot two more. Right or wrong that's how I did it.

The lower group is with the new Enforcer. Again, I believe those couple of high shots were due to me not catching a boil in the mirage.

              AA4100                         Enforcer
Low         1606                             1603
High        1624                             1618
Avg.        1610                             1609
ES           18.54                            15.01
SD           5.56                              4.83

9.3 grains of powder with a CCI BR4 was used for both the powders.

Next time out I hope to catch a better (calmer) day and try going up and down a few tenths of a grain to see what happens. I'll also try 9.6 grains which is what I used to use.
