Frank,

I was attempting to inject some humor into the discussion using a "double entendre".  I guess it was not very clear.

Back to the intended purpose of the OP, just take the butt plate off and tape the corners to protect the wood. Less is sometimes best.

Never mind the mule. Just load the wagon.

You'll probably want something on there to get the Length of Pull Correct!

You know, some of that Horn that is for sale on this forum would make a really nice replacement recoil "Pad"...

Terry,

I would if it could be steamed and bent to match the curvature of the stock.  Without modifying the stock the curvature is a little over 1/2" so even with 3/4" thick horn not much would remain at the heel and toe.

I bought a #45 range rifle a couple years ago that was missing the #3 butt plate and had been replaced by a thick piece of leather shaped to fit. It actually worked pretty well.

Wayne,
Using the name ".22BPCR" was intended to simplify the name of the game and to separate it from NRA small-bore silhouette. If you choose to call it a misnomer, so be it. The game is a derivation of Black Powder Silhouette. All aspects are the same except for the distances and sizes of the targets and the caliber. You could save yourself a lot of $, time, and effort by putting a Crossno liner in one of your big bore guns and shoot competitively. It's interesting to me to see how many of the bigger/Regional BP matches also now have .22 BPCR (oh no, I said it) silhouette matches.
No casting, no loading, just fun.....and just as challenging.

Joe,

That's an option worth considering.  Thanks.
