Winchester Brass Gone?
Mar 21st, 2016 at 6:07pm
Print Post
Just received notice from Midway that my back order for 32-40 & Win .284 brass has been cancelled as the products have been discontinued by Winchester. Someone else posted that their order for 30-40 Gov't (38-40 Rem, 38-50 Rem, 40-50 base case) has also been 'discontinued'. Wonder if this means Winchester will no longer be offering some of their 'traditional' brass cases.

Two weeks ago, I was told by the prinicipal of a Large Dealer from MN(Wolfs Den) that formerly sold Bulk Brass that Win is not going to be selling Bulk Brass in the future. All brass will go into their ammo line.

I received the same notice from Midway. I really did not ever think that Midway would ever be selling 32-40 brass again . The reality is that there is no current new production of 32-40 brass being produce anywhere . There may never be again . I have 100 new virgin 32-40 Winchester brass that I bought about three years ago. Could probably auction on Gun Broker for at least $200.00 right now, but I will not part with the brass . I do not think that 32-40 brass will ever be manufactured again .

We can keep asking Starline. Same with 30-40 brass. Who knows? They may come around.

I sent an email to Starline asking about .32-40.  The reply was that making .32-40 brass would require setting up an annealing process and they weren't interested in doing so.  (This would also explain why they offer .32-20 but not .25-20).

At least they offer .33-55 x 2.122 - 2.130 OAL which is long enough to make .32-40 cases.

Has anyone taken the time to contact Win. to verify the rumor is indeed true and to get it straight from the Horses mouth? If not I would be happy to give it try.

Jamison / Captech International should be able pick up the slack, if they aren't too busy.   Their .25-20 Stevens brass is excellent.

Start pummeling them with requests !

Thanks, but I have plenty.  Just forgot it was on watch at Midway.  Just confirming it looks like Winchester is out of the brass business since they are sending notices for all calbiers Cry

It's been rumored locally that Remington is going to stop selling primers and put it all into loaded ammo production.  Anyone else hear that?

My wife said I was a hoarder. Embarrassed

I'm gonna show these comments to her so she'll stop hassling me about the bags of Win .32-40 I bought over the years. Told her ain't no such thing when it comes to brass.  Tongue
