Sporter Trapdoor

I built this rifle up out of the components from at least three rifles that I found at the local flea market on different occasions. I built the stock myself from straight grain walnut for strength, and added an ebony fore end tip. I am not an advocate for cutting up old rifles, but since this was already done prior to me, thought i would build something useful out of the parts. Since Ohio now allows straight wall cartridges for hunting,,, that is it's main purpose. It shoots very well, and is a nice carry weight.

One day I will get around to engraving the silver pistol cap. The wood came from a tree that my dad and I milled up with a chainsaw mill about 20 years ago.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Very nice work! Considering how many Trapdoor parts and messed with guns there are, building up a nice sporter is a great use for them!
