Stevens 44 Wooden Frame Molds

I have nearly quit attending the local gun shows due primarily to the junk (gun or not gun related) that litters the tables and the ridiculous prices that accompanies the items much less the 10 bucks to get in.   With that being said I went anyways.   To my surprised I found junk that only a single shot guy may find interest in amongst all the ratt a tat tat stealthy stuff.   However being young and dumb I'm not sure what to make of them, maybe someone here can shed some light on it for me   I thought at first they might be used for casting, such as in maybe sand casting, but I wasn't sure that stevens used that process.  Or maybe a jig for even rough fitting of wood.   Either way they came home with me.  Any help appreciated.

They look like patterns for sand casting. I think the blocks above and below the action itself would be for forming a pocket to fit the core piece in. The core piece would be broken out of the casting when completed thus leaving a hollow shell. That's my take on it, yours may be different.

Ballards may be weaker,

Pretty cool! Look like patterns for sand casting to me also. Surprised there are no pencil or ink markings on them. I worked in a foundry for years, and all our patterns were painted, waxed, and had numbers written on them, or descriptions written on them.
But I'd grab them too, and I don't collect Stevens rifles!
