Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Ramset sells .25 caliber charges. I've used them back when I worked for a living.

I don't plan on shooting this stuff.
I have a way to enjoy my Ballard in 25 Stevens.

Surprised to hear you also have a Ballard in .25 Stevens! Considering the cartridge didn't arrive on the market until after Ballard production stopped, it must have been a popular rework!
Is yours a re-bore by Stevens, new barrel, or re-bore by someone else?

Marlinguy,
My rifle is a re-bore/re-rifle by a gunsmith in Pennsylvania (I don't remember his name offhand).
He stamped his name and caliber on the muzzle end of the barrel.
From what I can gather, it was a popular re-work for a .22 rifle that wasn't performing as the owner wanted it to.
I believe I read that in an old Stevens catalog.

I am not familiar with .25 Blanks used for concrete but I have used .27 caliber power loads by breach seating the bullet with some success. Its been discussed here in the past.

I have found that the Remington made .27 power loads fit and function in the chamber of my .25 Stevens Ballard perfectly.

My brother has been experimenting with making .25 rimfire out of .17 wsm cases. He's been (carefully) removing the bullets and trimming them off at the shoulder, then loading them with 2 grains of trail boss and a 50 gr., .251 lead bullet. They're shorter than .25 Longs, but longer than .25 shorts. Neither one of us currently has a .25 caliber rifle, so I'll have to get back with everyone on how they shoot.

I'm looking forward to hearing how that works.
