Been searching for one of these for a good while and finally came up with a fairly nice example with a near perfect bore.

Nice looking Peabody Militia.   You will probably find that the bore is oversized.  It took me a long time to egt my Conneticut Militia shooting well.  Since I didn't plan to shoot it a lot I really didn't want to have a mould specially made for it.  I have a Tom Ballard adjustable paper patch mouls and with bullets casting about 460 grains it finally settled down.

I ahve a SRC also which had been chambered for 50-70.  Shoots great; and I'm working up loads for a hacked up 43 Spanist (French Model) that i had rebarreled to 45-70.  Too many projects all at the same time!

Speaking of a Tom Ballard mold, enjoyed a nice visit with Tom at a Helena, Montana March 4-6th g/show.  Tom's been out of mold making operations for many years now, but he's doing fine. Hope I'm that healthy when I'm his age.  

Back in 2009 Tom made a custom .457 mold, 315 gr., for use with an original .45-50 Peabody Sporting Rifle...and yes, it worked out better than I'd hoped for in that rifle.  thank you again Tom.

Looks like a good find, Bear.  Most of those Connecticuts sure got rode hard and put away wet. (No wonder most of the bores look like a reject sewer pipe!   Grin
