Spotting Scope combined with Smartphone

Well, shooters are sometimes creative and ingenious when it comes to smart inventions...

...a Bavarian shooter combined his smartphone with his spotting scope.

He took an aluminum sheet, drilled a hole for the lens, attached a adapter-mount on the back for the eyepiece of the scope, placed the smartphone on the aluminum plate (with rubber bands), and had a nice screen to look for his shots.

Well, it worked fine as far as I could see.

The only problem he had was: He got a phone call during the match!

This Bavarian is a retired machinist, so he brought his handicraft work for the smartphone.

I have seen the adapters for you rifle scope so you can record the kill, don't know why they wouldn't work for a spotting scope.    Just wondering if you can use them at a match.   If you could magnify the image on screen, the .22 holes might be easier to see.  Or would the  mirage be worse!?

Was looking at YouTube videos the other day for "Night vision scopes". Came across a couple vids of guys DIY setups using a infa-red illuminator, a mini-camera mounted in the scope and a 12 V back-up camera mounted on the side of the rifle. Guys were picking off rats @ 50 yds in the dark with an air rifle.
Hmmmm. Roll Eyes

Well, those rubberbands are needed in case you need a quick access to your phone..:!   Tongue

Maybe the displayed workmanship is not yet the version for the patent protection.  Grin

I think the quality of the pic depends solely on the quality of the camera-lenses.
A cheap phone cannot provide perfect pics.

I already have a lot of money tied up in this phone. I draw the line at fifteen bucks.

cuslog,

Reminds me of when I was a teen, a friend and I would drive out to the Purdy (WA) dump and tape flashlights to our 22s and shoot rats.  One night the sheriff showed up and we though were were in for it.  He said "Boys, next time bring something bigger, there are bears around here"

Actually, I was thinking of Coyotes -- they're getting thick around here -- tore up our Labrador dog twice now -- just about time to thin out the pack !
