My "OLD", do you mean expired ?  And, it's the official U.S. Patent Office patent documents that you wish to review ?

I've always went straight to the source, we had to do this a lot in college for our engineering projects.

You can use boolean searches too.

I've always found Google Patents to be very good, you may have to use several different ways of asking your question, but keeping the question simple is the easiest way to go.
