Heavy Bench Rifle

The attached pictures are of my heavy bench rifle. It's Built on a Model J, Falling Block Works action. The barrel is a Ron Snover, 7 lands & 7 grooves, .32 cal. It measures 30 inches long and finished at 1.55 inches in diameter. As you can see the rifle weighs right at 20 lbs. Jerry Hartwig (Mr. Quarter Bore) did the chambering, machine work and the rust bluing. CPA rough shaped the butt stock and I did the final shaping and finish work. The bore is on the small side, measuring .3185 inches in diameter. I felt fortunate to come across a Paul Jones mould that cast a .3195+ diameter bullet that this rifle shoots well.
The two targets were shot by Jerry and myself. Jerry shot his target right after the rifle was put together, his first 8 shots went into the 25 ring, the next two were just out due to a condition change. I shot the 249 target a few months back at a Modesto Schuetzen Match. The rifle is a real pleasure to shoot as it has less felt recoil than my 25-20 WCF. Thanks FarmBoy Products for all the excellent machine work.

Nice looking, no-nonsense bench gun. From the results of those two targets, I'd say there are a bunch of 250's lurking in that barrel. All you need is a good day at the range to start letting them out!

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

Looks like it has potential  Grin  Nice rifle. Good targets fro a new gun!   Do you shoot it in the offhand matches when they pop up?

Very interesting all around build. Thanks for showing it. I can't help but comment about the great looking shaping and finish you did on the butt stock.
