Hi All I hope it is OK to ask the below in this forum
I need some knowledge on antic scopes and hope someone here can help me on some first production years that I need for some new rules to the Danish Black powder association.
I am writing a list of known scopes pre 1917 with external adjustment as used in the 1800- 1900.
I have not been able to find the first production year for the following scopes:
Brockway
Davidson
Duplex
Jamieson
Mogg
Pierce
Rural
Have anyone made a complete list of these antic tube scopes or reproduction of them ??

Unfortunately, my copy of Gerald Kelver's
Reloading Tools, Sights and Telescopes for Single Shot Rifles
is packed away, so the following is my skimpy memory of his chapter (5, I think) on telescopic sight makers.
John Jamieson was a (Denver?) Colorado gunsmith who made a few externally adjustable sights in roughly the first quarter of the 20th century. I own one, with mounts, and can attest that it is a very finely made and finished instrument.
Lawson C. Cummins of Montpelier, Vermont was the maker of the Duplex telescopic sight, the first such that was internally adjustable. Based on advertising envelopes and secondary catalog references, Mr. Cummins seemed to have worked in the mid-to-late 1890s and maybe a little later. In 40+ years of collecting, I seen only a couple of Duplex sights advertised and have never handled one.
Hope this helps.

Kelver lists Duplex as late 1800s to early 1900s that as close as it gets.
He lists Malcolm as 1840s to 1890s
He lists Jamison as early 1900s
That’s as close as he gets.
