What is your favorite action?

What is your favorite type of action?  Any particular reason why?  Has that one always been your favorite or have you gone through a few favorites throughout the years?

This is supposed to be a fun thread.  I just want to see what other people like and maybe some of their love for a hepburn, borchardt, rolling block, etc.. will rub off on me or some of the other members.  Pictures are, of course, very welcome.

I'll start.  I love 1885's because I think they are beautiful, iconic, and historic because they are the first design by John Browning.  Here are my two.  Both in 22.

I get in the boat with you because I've had a number of these over the years. My first single shot, and still my favorite is one in .30 US.
I must confess wanting to sample a Ballard and Hepburn, but I'm somewhat poverty struck and happy to have what I do. All things considered, I'd probably take a 'wall over the others simply because I know them pretty well.

About 25 years ago,  I shot a Hepburn .45-70 at a buffalo target at 1000 yds. The first time that thing "dinged"  I was hooked.  I know a few folks would disagree with me , but I think they are beautiful.  As fast as they disappear  when one comes up for sale here, there are a few other guys out there that love them too.    The only problem is some folks don't live in the realm of reality when it come to pricing them(Forum members are the exception)   Like SSShooter, I'm always looking to rescue a neglected #3.
Here are three of mine,  a .32W, .40-90Sharps Straight, and .32-40 B grade.

Whenever I see the oddly beautiful Hepburn I think of this quote.

"There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion."

Francis Bacon

Thanks for that great pic.

Judging by how many I own, the Stevens 44 has to be mine, with a strong bias toward the side-extractor period.  I also like the 44 1/2 action, I just don't have as many.

Ballard is tops for target shooting, especially offhand. For longrange traditional style shooting, Hepburn, that is what LL made it for  Grin

My favorite for schuetzen is Ballard, especially 32-40.

There are indeed two Americas. Simply put, it is not the haves and have nots. The two Americans are in reality divided into those who do and those who don't.

My first centerfire rifle was a Winchester Low Wall with #2 barrel in 32-20. I was 13 years old. I now have another one, #1 barrel, also 32-20 that is a favorate hunting rifle, as was the first. I have a modern "Winchester" 1885 High Wall in 40-65 that is also a favorate -- it is my BPCR rifle. A favorate "single shot" rifle was the 7X57R barrel of a Merkel-made kombi gun -- it was the "turkey barrel" of that gun and the 16X67 shot barrel dropped way more ruffed grouse than all my other shotguns together. It remains my most cherised hunting gun.

An 1890s Stevens M47 Range Rifle on 44 frame taught me a lot about those nice old rifles and the ease of getting MOA groups with them. It too is 32-20.
