The fellow that did the case-color on my 38-50 Hepburn in my other Hepburn thread just purchased this original Creedmoor rifle in 44/100. Am going to do my new 38-50 barrel in the same profile as his, which 34 1/2" in length (will go with 32"). What a beautiful rifle. Will post additional pic's when I get a chance.

Tony, I wish I could be at the gun show to see your Hepburns, I'm sure they're beauties.

Tony - can you post a couple of pic's of each of your rifles for us to salivate over.
The owner of the Hepburn Creedmoor I posted above will be competing with his, just like in days of yore. He has several original rifles (not like my Hepburn rifles, which are all "rescue" rifles from when they were varmintized 50-60yr ago) that he competes with an has won any number of matches with them. He will be shooting them like they were shot when new, with BP PP loads.

This rifle has an original, from the factory gain-twist barrel. From the best that the owner can determine at the moment it starts at 25" and ends at 16" with 5-lands & grooves and measures 0.447" x 0.453". Remington was certainly on top of all the latest tweaks of the day.

Shot the rifle today. Very pleasant, which was a revelation to me. As Tom said, paper-patched 530gr bullet with 100gr of 1F was a real pussy cat compared to a similar grease-groove load. After Tom dialed it in on pigs (300m) I pulled my first shot badly with the requisite 3#+ Creedmoor trigger. On my 2nd shot I drilled the pig pretty much dead center. Tom only shoots original rifles and has a few dozen. Lovely rifle. He also has a Creedmoor Roller.
