It would appear that they have dropped the 50 chambering. I am lucky enough to already have a LR 50/70 and a Boss 50/90!

They dropped the 40/65 some years ago which was a great pity.

No, not a great choice. I have my own rural property with 300m range!

Talk to C. Sharps Arms if you want a High Wall in 40cal or 50cal.

Like new .50-70 and .40-65 Pedersolis show up on Gun Broker and the other auctions sites.  I got what appears to be an unfired  .50-70 long range model  for about half the retail price.

Check Cherry's too. I think they may have some old inventory or they can special order some models. They were the last place that I saw with .50-70s.

Flintlocksetc is the US distributor and they've had a 50/70 for sale on their website "specials."  They also carry spare parts for most of the DP products.

not sure how those Italians connect 50/70 with long range.
is oxymoron the word?
history is very clear on what a long range rifle is.
there also existed a video ad implying that highwalls were used in the bison extermination and at creedmoor.
again history is clear.
keep safe,
bruce.

After floundering around with buying and selling Sharps, not really knowing what I wanted, I finally decided to get Frank Sellers book and also go to online auction houses like Rock Island and Julia and look at the original Sharps. I go with Shiloh Sharps or Axtell now and I get the rifle built like an historic original. Go look at target rifles, Creedmoors, buffalo guns, sporting rifles in the original. Julia has 14 years of previous auctions with pictures and you can get a very good idea of how the originals looked including caliber, barrel length, half octagon, forearm tip, etc. I have several Shiloh Sharps and the quality is without a doubt top of the line. I have an Axtell that is an exact replica of an Sharps 1877 No 1 Long Range Creedmoor. You can look at Gunbroker or Guns International for Shilohs and originals in Sharps, Hi walls, rolling blocks and others. C.Sharps has good a selection too. I got two Shilohs each for $1000 less than the new price on a gun auction site. Pedersoli and others throwing around historic names like Billy Dixon to sell non-historic rifles is silly. OBTW I love my Shiloh Sharps Hartford 50-90 and killed my buffalo with it.

Do you get a real mule to ride to the range with those authentic Sharps with the non corrosive primers?  Grin

After picking on Pedersoli how do you explain a Shiloh Long Range Express or any others in 30-40 Krag or .405 Win?
