Just let me know to whom/when to send the funds to pay for it. Am looking forward to playing with it. Haven't used a brass mould in at least 30 years. Last one was a pre-war Pacific brass for the Keith .44 spl. during my revolver collecting days.

It's like Santa has something for me but won't be here for another month and a half. How the heck does one cope with that? I buy stuff to keep me happy while I wait. Last week I got a new large size Lyman de-burring tool. Today I bought ceramic media and polish. The 319-323 mold is going to wind up costing me several hundred dollars at my current rate of expenditures.

Don't know why I put myself through this.  Cry

A related question:  This will be my first aluminum mold, have only ever cast with steel molds.  Are there any tips as to how the aluminum will act compared to steel?

Thanks............Joe

Watch your temps with the aluminum mold - they can overheat if the cadence is too fast or the melt too hot.  Otherwise they are a joy and maintenance free.

I just talked to Al and he is still on schedule to have this mold ready on or before April 8.

He asked that the buyers, if they aren't already a member of the NOE forum, sign up and he would like you to post in the Active Group Buy section, the mold or molds that you want. He would like to know by base band diameter, rather than A, B, or C.

There is also a GC option, added to each size, if you would like that.

Here is the link:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

He also said that if anyone has a objection to that, they can order it on the phone and pay with a check but, if you take that route, please let me know, so I can inform him, who will be doing that, because people that have signed up here, get a 15% discount and he'll need to know who they are (i.e. 15% off $79 = $67.15).

This will be the configuration of the molds and cavitys:

Will be offering this in three sizes .321, .323 and .325

We will be running 2 cavity, 2 cavity Brass, 3 cavity, 4 cavity, 4 cavity Brass, 5 cavity GC or PB.
We will offer mixed GC and PB in 2 cavity, 4 cavity moulds only, 1 each in 2 cavity and
2 each in 4 cavity (no mixed GC, PB in 5 cavity blocks).

I asked about two different sizes in the same block and as I suspected, he couldn't do it, sorry.

If you have any questions please ask here or send me a PM.

Done.  Pretty simple and straightforward.
Thanks again Frank.

Guy's, it's my pleasure. There just aren't enough molds and makers for our sport.

I'm down for a brass mould. Count me in.

ETA went to the NOE website and joined up etc. over there, so hopefully there won't be any duplication?

I've dealt with Al a couple of times in the past for revolver bullets.  I think you guys are going to be VERY pleased with his work.

I see the dia. stated are for wheelweight material on the NOE site.  How much
do you think it would change using 20 or 25 lead to tin?

In my brass molds, it's the same size for my 22/1. In aluminum, .0002 larger.

Frank,
I will add you to the list here but, to actually get on the official list, you'll have to join the NOE forum here:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

Then, make your request here by base band size and number of cavitys:

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

He added a GC base band, also. So, you specify PB or GC, base band size, Aluminum or brass and number of cavitys.

If you don't want to do that, you can also, wait until it's ready to buy, then call to make your order, specify that your on this list and send in the money.

Up date:

I've been asked when we would have this mold ready and I just got off the phone with NOE. He said that he is going to try and have them ready, in one week, give or take a day or two. He apologize for the delay, saying that his new tool grinder had taken some time to get up and running.

Another thing I asked him about is if he could do single cavity molds and he said that he will see how much of a issue it would be to change the programing. So, if you want a single cav that may be possible. I'll know about that in 1 or 2 days.
