Hello,
Add me in for a brass mold. The 25 cal mold I have from NOE is a good one, so I will take a chance on this one too!

Charlie,
You have good taste in molds Smiley I've always liked this mold, mainly because it was the first spitzer, that I know of, for schuetzen. I wish we had more history on W. H. French.
Frank

Back in the day, I did a lot of searching for him myself, and was only able to find a couple of passing references in Kelver and in a couple of match results.  Apparently he was a real hot shoe of a shooter around the turn of the last century.  He seems to have lived in or near Denver, but came East at least once for one of the big matches (maybe an Election Day Match??)  There was one match where he finished within a couple of points of Pope for second place, IIRC.  Maybe now that more information has been digitized onto the InterWeb, I'll renew my search and be able to find more.

OK, I got my old froggie brain in gear and found this thread from 2009.  My question about WH French was the last one on page 3, and Mike Petrov and Jim Foral both posted some good (confirmed) info on Mr. French.

(You need to Login or Register to view media files and links)

I'll keep looking for whatever else I can find.  Now you have me curious.

Frank,
I just talked to another ASSRA member without a computer, he would like one of the brass ones also. Please add another one to my name.

Thank you

Wow, 15 orders in just over 36 hours!  I would have never thought there would be this much interest in this rather obscure design.  Frank, I guess I'll have to cast up a bunch from the original mould when I get it back and give it another look during the early part of the 2016 season!

I made with my Google Fu techniques, and sure enough French shows up in results in several issues of "Shooting and Fishing" from the early years of the 20th Century.  I found the Election Day Match results I had thought I remembered seeing, but he finished fourth to Hubalek, I believe.  I did find he was born in the East, went to Colorado for a few years, then seems to have come back to New Jersey for the rest of his life.  Anyway, it seems like there is still more to find about WH French AND his bullet!

Regards,
Froggie

When we're done with this one....there's a series of tapered bullets for .30 caliber by a guy named Eagan.  I happen to have one mould, and a few bullets from another version that has shallower lube grooves.
