I wanted an octagon barrel for this project so went with a GM barrel. It supposed to be a .315" to .321" bore.  It's a Dave Mos bullet.  Bob

It does look like one of Ron's molds. That's what I liked about it Smiley

Don't get any better than Mos or RL. They worked at the same company.

How does it shoot, Bob?

Not really peeling lead. More like squershin it back/down?

I'm sorry to get OT here but, Joe, did Mos work for Ron?

Old-Win ... from the looks of the distance on the lands on the bullet, you have to lengthen the seater plug so the base of the bullet is fully engraved.  Plus your bullet needs to be sized to your rifle or a different diameter bullet because it is too fat

Old-Wins depth of breech seating is a good place to start.  Does not have to be all the way into the rifling. Half way through the driving band is rule of thumb starting point.

Frank, They both worked in the same building. My guess is, Mos did not work for Ron. Just a guess. Judging from the bullet shown, Ron had some influence. Again just a guess.

Joe, Will let you know how it shoots in a couple months soon as a little more of the snow melts.
Frank, I decided to go with standard JGS reamer as they wanted $210 for the reamer you designed plus a 2 mo. wait.  That's what Steve had and he said he could order a throating reamer if this doesn't shoot.
John Boy, That is one funky looking bullet!  How does it shoot?

Bob, that's Doc Hudson's design of the Ideal 375272 (38-55) who was one of the best riflemen at the turn of the century along with Harry Pope.  He also designed the 319273 (32-40) which he shot in the SSRJ article this year when he went to the MidWest and beat the pants off the match shooters there
It shoots better than I do! Grin

If you are shaving lead off your bullet it usually means that the throating is a little to narrow at the base. As the bullet is pushed down into the throat it expands a little and is then shaved off when the plug passes the transition. This usually does no harm as the bullet is perfectly sealed it is a pain as you will occasionally get a little shaved lead ironed on to your cartridge neck.
