Could be for sure.

Someone here on the forum suggested trimming cases shorter to make room for the ring section on stop ring bullets.  Neat idea.   Smiley

Maybe I do it one day. Stop ring bullets work in all my rifles so far. No trimming needed.

I got motivated and fired up the gas pot and took the new Buffalo Arms stop ring mould for a spin. Sure casts nice. I slipped a bullet into a fired case and fed it to the Mauser. The bolt cammed it the last snick into the rifling as the last bit of the nose was slightly over bore diameter. The stop ring was unmarked so the chamber was the length of the case plus the ring. Kind of self breech seating. The loading notes for that rifle showed how long it has been since it has been out; all the loads were with 2400 so almost 40 years ago. We'll see how it likes 4227.

Quite a bit of good advice all, but there is no way I will ever cut on a rifle that has come to me unmolested, thank you.  We are just custodians IMHO.  I will hunt up some 32 Spl. and try those as well.  Trimming a few basis is no bother.

BP does sound attractive, and I do have FFG for my 71 Mauser; should be fun.  No one has SR molds immediately available, so I'll work up some 25-1 Saeco 315s in the interim.  I also have a 319289, a tad oversize but worth a try.
