Primers ...... again.

With the continuing shortage of FED 205-M, I am considering using the Fed 205.  Any thoughts, comments, experiences to share? (for use in .32-20CPA & .25-20WCF). I'm still doing fine with the 205-MAR, but they're becoming scarce also. Thanks.

I have no experience with the Fed. 205 primers. I switched to CCI BR4 primers when the Fed. 205M primers disappeared. They work just as well, and I think better than, the Fed 205M.

A quick search shows them available from Graf, Wideners, Midway, etc.

I have been shooting some small primers in .32-40 lately, and have had very good results from the Fed 205. I couldn't get the match version either, but  since I freely interchange their large ones (210 & 210m) I went with the same thinking on the small guys. So far, so good. But, I look forward to trying the other when I get my grubby paws on some. Doubt there will be much improvement, but ya never know.

Re. the CCI BR-4, when shooting 600 yd BR with my 6mmBR, I found them equal to the Fed 205-M. Also, they seemed to work well with both .32-20CPA & .25-20WCF when using AA4100. But when testing with Alliant 300-MP, the Federals resulted in far smaller and more consistent groups. I've seen (somewhere) photographs of these and other primers when fired and the visual "flash" is very different among those primers tested. With the shortage of the 4100 powder, I'm working hard to find a replacement. I'm getting real close with the .32. Got some to go with the .25, but making headway. Just my personal results. When I can get some VV N-110, I'll work with it as well.

That is correct. I had RMC make me some 32-40 cases with small primer pockets about ten years ago, so assume they will still will do so. Will also guess the price has not dropped and they weren't cheap back then.

Not to get any further from the subject of primers- the .32-40 cases I'm shooting are made from .30 American. These were simply .30-30 cases manufactured with the small pocket. One batch made up by Federal about 25 years back.
