I'm really surprised no one else bid on this one, probably because it was too high. I've been looking for an original, complete excellent condition Aydt for a long time and if I paid too dear I go to my grave happy!  From the name tag on the front sling swivel it may have been stored at a range?

All matching numbers, wood, action, barrel, trigger group, rear sight and parts, and the butt plate.  No significant defects, except for the fresh fragment from the forearm done by the dealer, not me.  Well, there is some blue flaking from the disassembly pin......

Front sight has 3 beads and one post.  Barrel is 31 3/16" long, one in 15 twist, throat slugs .3158, the muzzle .315.  Six grooves/lands, perfect condition.  8.15x46r normalized.   Can someone tell me about the barrel markings other than caliber and case length?  I wonder why the 7.7 was lined out.  There is no liner and the chamber is definitely for a tapered case.

I have plenty of 30/30 brass and a few 32 caliber molds to start.  Hope to get to the range next weekend!!  Woohoo....

Pics are at Photobucket.

Mike,
It says that your album is password protected.

Don't worry about the price. I paid $1000 for my System Will in 1988. It wasn't that over priced for it's condition but, I HAD TO HAVE IT!!! And I've never regretted buying it, either!

Just enjoy,

Frank

Beautiful rifle
I now have 8 German & Austrian schuetzen rifles, some I got for a reasonable price & some I over paid for, but I love every one of them. I shot my system Will .22lr today at an indoor range.
Enjoy the Aydt

Very nice. I wonder if the lined out 7.7 was from the first proof in 1926 and the second 7.7 over 46 was from the second proof in 1929. It almost looks like the Nitro proof might have been a later addition with a different strike and crown and all. Biggi?

That's a beautiful rifle, Mike. You have the same engraving pattern that I do and mine has the proof marks in the engraving as yours does, in the upper, right hand, forward corner, too.

Yamoon, do you know what Will system yours is? The 1911 or 1908? My CF is 1911 and my RF is 1908.

That is one beautiful rifle. Congratulations on owning it. Can I have your home address and the combination of your gun safe. I'd like to borrow it. Lol.

Got a few 32-40 cases cut to 1.81"/46 mm; 30-30 rims are a tad too wide.  Made up a snap cap out of one with a dense pencil eraser in the primer pocket.  That set trigger is scary; I have my CPA at 3 oz but this one must be half-ounce if a pound.  Literally, a bare touch and it's gone.

Fellow cast bullet shooter thinks he has a 319289 somewhere, hope to find out Thursday.  Gonna get up the nerve to c.a.r.e.f.u.l.l.y pull the breech block and innards guided by de Haas' book.

Anyone know where I can get original or repro "keys" for the front and rear sights?  The front "flipper" and the rear sight base studs are .360mm/.140", the rear sight elevation and windage studs are .460mm/.185".

Try Alder Street Clock Shop in downtown Portland. Or if you have a clock repair shop over on your side the river, they should have clock keys.
