Unburned Powder

We often talk about loads leaving unburned powder in bores. Been working with low pressure shotgun loads lighter than published.  Residue in the bore may or may not be unburned powder. 

Sure test is wipe the bore with a lightly lubed blue shop towel patch.  Touch a match to a corner watch it burn. Any unburned grains will flare, can't mistake it.
