Cold windy day at the range

The rifle is 16 inch twist R. Long barreled Ballard.  Shooting done at 50 yards to sight in a new scope.

I also wanted to try to get some cases to stick in the chamber. i.e. hard extraction which I have experienced in the past with the rifle after about 8 shots out of a case.  Shot the same case 27 or 28 times and no extraction problems.

The shot by itself is the first shot out of the cold barrel with my Doc Brewer bullet.

Then the small group below that is 3 shots with the Doc Brewer bullet.

The aiming point was the center of the 25 ring.  I then put the dot on the 25 ring and turned the elevation and windage until the dot moved to the three shot group.

Then aiming at the number 19 and I shot 18 or 19 more Brewer bullets at the target.  The group did not grow after about the 8th shot, the rest went into the hole.
By now I am so cold that I can barely feel the trigger but decided to try some bullets from my new Accurate mold.  It is 28 degrees and windy

Accurate bullet 32-195P at 197.3 average weight cast 25 to 1.
Bands are .316, .317, .318, .320, .321, .323 base.  One inch long.

Shot these at the number 19 on the right side of the target.  Five shot group measures .445 outside to outside of leaded edge.  I know it’s only 50 yards but.

I wanted to try more of the bullets but I was so cold by then I quit.  Quitting then also allows me to think this will repeat every time until the next time I shoot with this bullet and have my expectations shattered by reality.  Or maybe not.

Having lived in Wisconsin for five years and experiencing winters there, 28 degrees in January seems downright balmy.  Smiley
