Evans Rifle with Unusual Barrel

I just picked up a Evans 1816 Percussion Conversion. All the other parts on the rifle look like a standard 1816 but the barrel does not. Anyone have any ideas what the barrel was originally on? It is stamps US and has a ring around the barrel by the breech.

I'm of no help to you but you may want to ask on The American Longrifle forum. There are plenty of knowledgeable, helpful guys there.

If you do get an answer there I (and maybe others here) would appreciate knowing what you find out.

I'm not a complete idiot, some of my parts are missing.

Jerry,  thanks I will look at them. I think it is a brown bess barrel but have never seen one on a conversion.
