If you'd mentioned wanting to rebuild it at the beginning of the post, I could have helped. Just sent off the entire guts of a Roller. A friend needed a good action to build up, and had all the guts for a set trigger Sporter, so sold him the frame, and another guy the internals.

Marlinguy, actually my action is tight as all get out, in fact I can't wait to shoot it. My dilemma is the barrel. Rust and pitting have taken it's toll so I was looking for a replacement barrel in a more friendly caliber like 45-70. Mine is .43 Spanish and the prices I see for ammo are disgusting, Even the components are through the roof. Got a barrel you can part with?

No, no spare .45-70 Rolling Block barrels. I usually go to Green Mountain and order them. Then have my friendly gunsmith fit them to my action.

The receiver is that of a saddle ring carbine. The extra hole is the one into which the saddle ring staple screws. the pin you see is a replacement for the staple mounting screw. That screw also serves as the main spring stop. Your restoration can be done, however it will likely cost more than the carbine will be worth when completed.

Nice roller, Schuetzendave.  I could not find the curved lower tang on MVA's website that you bought. Wonder if it could be fitted to my Whitney roller action. Guess I need to call MVA.

Never mind the mule. Just load the wagon.
