If you're breech seating, then pressure will already be a bit lower with the same charge.

Much as I like Unique , the only bullets I have stuck in a barrel has been with min load of Unique in 32-20 .  fixed loads , both rifle and pistol ( probably too light crimps). Lucky I could hear the noise difference and checked bore before firing another . 3-4 times different batches of ammo
I do see how its possible to stick one in the barrel , fire another , and luckily I dont know the implications of this and dont want to find out first hand

One of the problems I always had with .32-20 was getting a crimp on without destroying the slug. Caused quite erratic shooting, to  say the least. Coupled with short case life, I gave up. Others love that little bugger, so stick with it if ya like.

I'm one of those who love the .32-20 cartridge! Still don't have enough rifles and pistols in .32-20, and have had no issues with shorter case life. I've got .32-20 cases that have over a dozen reloads on them, and still look great.

Vall, and win, I wasn't trying to set you off of the cartridge, just to say that if pipsqueak loads are the job, that trying to improve them with additional crimp may be counterproductive in that the improved ignition may come at the expense of a malformed projectile.
There, I used all my big words for the rest of the year. Wink Have fun.

I also really like 32-20 , and today I was shooting a Whitney Kennnedy and Win 92. Last week a Uberti 73 in 32-20 I find it easy to load with tight neck tension , no crimp on Hornady 100 gr jacketed and Old Lyman # 45 data for 4227. New manuals have much reduced loads listed for this powder that give erratic results , but I certainly am not reccomending anything others may be wary of like using old data. I am trying to reduce load as much as possible but below  11.5 gr it starts to  increase vel deviation in 3 guns tried and you can hear blast deviation as well
Brass lasts me a long time as I only minimal resize with backed off FLS die
A very mild pleasant cal that will shoot well , even out to 300 Meters, so not only for short range cowboy

Unconventional for this forum , but couldnt restrain myself somehow  Roll Eyes

Since my guns are either single shots, or revolvers, I use little or no crimp. I don't load the cartridge down to minimum velocities, as most medium loads are so mild in the revolver or rifle, that I've never seen a reason to go lower.
