Beautiful 25-30,SS, DST 1929 Ketner, Shul Germany
rust pops out in gun safe. Rifle suffering on TX coast.
When I rub rust with Oil rag blue thins out . Gift for granddaughter. Teflon finish, deep blue,  will stop problem.
Concern as to collector value ? Depleting ambiance.

Refinish usually kills collectability. Golden rods work. I would not refinish any collectable gun.

I live on the Gulf Coast below Houston and I have been using a product called Rustpruffe for 50 years and never yet had a rifle or pistol develop rust. Give it a try it only costs about 6 dollars to try it.

Firearms need to be stored in safes at 70 degrees and 55% humidity.

I have a shop rag coated with Eezox.  Any firearm that comes out and back into the safe is wiped down with the shop rag.

Second vote on Rustprufe. Effective and inexpensive. I use it on firearms and precision tools.

Can't say I would never refinish any collectable gun, as some are either too far gone, or too Bubba'd to not refinish. But when I have refinished them, I do everything I can to duplicate the original finish. I would not Teflon coat any old gun.
